About Us

Formerly known as the Centre for Marine CNG, we recently celebrated our fifth anniversary as Newfoundland's only Research and Development Corporation exclusively dedicated to the oil and gas industry. We have been at the forefront of technology development associated with marine compressed natural gas, providing value to our Members and working in partnership with industry, governments, research institutes and other stakeholders.

Born in part from an ACOA grant in 2004, we have established a successful track record of delivering R&D projects on scope, schedule, budget and quality all over the world.

In an effort to broaden our research offering, and to be more inclusive and relevant to the local oil and gas community, the Centre has successfully re-branded as Propel.

As an independent, not-for-profit corporation, Propel's primary service offering will remain in the provision of R&D project management services and specialized facilities for its members from the oil and gas industry. Through collaboration amongst all R&D stakeholders including industry, academia and governments, Propel will continue to increase the R&D capacity for Newfoundland and Labrador.

With a unique facility and an internationally recognized team of professionals, Propel will be responsive to the needs of the regional oil and gas industry. With an initial focus on natural gas, produced water, and multiphase flow assurance and testing, Propel will help the operators improve offshore processes and their continued adherence to environmental regulations. Unique to the region, Propel has the specialized facilities, resources and partnerships to successfully manage these research projects.
